Reflection

Image result for reflection quotes after a quarter"
"Learning without reflection is a waste. Reflection without learning is dangerous."
                                ~ Confucius

A few months have passed yet again. Still, I continue to learn and at the same time grow. This quarter passed by so quickly that I did not even realize that it had already ended. Though I do know that we have started and is currently doing web designing. I tend to spend a lot of time doing it especially since there were some instances wherein everything I have finished so far got deleted. It all just vanished and I don’t want to point fingers. So, I've got no choice but to do it all over again. It got me really mad and agitated. However, I will go on with the lessons I have learned. Not just only in this subject but also the learning of my everyday experience.

Christmas Has Come

A savior is born.

"The beauty of Christmas lies not just in the date, but in the feeling it gives."

Christmas, the celebration which takes the Filipinos atleast four months to celebrate.

The celebration of the birth of Christ. A time
for us to reflect, spread love, and understand the teachings and lessons of Jesus.

However, as time passes by, we continue to forget its true essence, its importance. Celebrating it has been one of the events which is most-looked forward to. Especially for children.

It is a season for merry-making and rejoicing. It is not all about giving and receiving. It is about Christ Himself.

GAD-VAWC

Gender equality plays a crucial role in the development of a person. Thus, we have not just gender issues that arise, and this Gender Awareness Development (GAD) is somehow connected to Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).

This has been happenning for a long time now. From the ancient times up to this very day. Although we have a lot of laws that protect or could back the victims up, we cannot say that equality is present and excercised.

There are groups that have advocates equality or their own beliefs in this matter. But this would never be enough, the society needs to cooperate. Every single one of us has to.

Image result for environmental awareness monthAs stewards, with our population that continues to grow, the world, the creations of God should've been in a healthier state. Much livelier than what it is in the present.

There are about billions of us all over the world and yet nothing good seems to come out of it, instead we continue to contribute to the bad condition of the environment, we destroy things that keep us alive and strong.

Environmental awareness is run by the United Nations,. It's aim is to raise awareness of the environment and specific environmental issues. It specifically focuses on environmental concerns ranging from pollution to global warming and sustainable food to protection of wildlife.

It can be celebrated in many ways, such as tree planting, lectures, and campaigns.

Here I am still

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."
                ~ Søren Kierkegaard

A few months have passed. Another quarter is about to end but we all know that a new one's just up ahead. This quarter was very eventful and everyone experienced their ups and downs. And someone who had experienced those, though this is just my opinion of some sort, i think that even though we didn't have straight days of discussion, we still kind of learned new things and thanks to our lesson for being easier than expected.
Image result for lifes challengesThat there is much more going on behind that blog everybody would be seeing. I learned a few more tags, how to add images, highlight, put background picture/color, and hyperlinks.
Along the way, i could not avoid having difficulties in making the activities given. There were things that would just set me off, things i couldn't figure out.
And so i made use of the information given and even asked my seatmates a few things because it was really not working for me. But then it did and i finished everything on time.
Moving on, i will continue to keep learning and absorbing the information given. And as time goes by, we move on to bigger things. Just like how it's about to end then something new begins, people come and people go. And soon we might just wake up someday realizing that we have come this far. I’ve survived life’s challenges this time. And ready to start.
As per our lesson / what we have been doing, it could just be two things: something that is to our advantage or something kept in the dark. Because i strongly believe that there are people that won't even have time to apply these. But then, we still have senior high and college up ahead. And these, everything could be of use when properly handled.

A Day To Remember

Image result for teachers day 2019 philippines theme
The Teacher’s Day is a well-known celebration worldwide and that is why we have the World Teacher’s Day which is held annually on October 5. The National Teacher’s Month started on September 5 and its culmination was on October 5, in time with the World Teacher’s Day celebration. The Division Teacher’s Day is on October 3 and on October 2 which is the school-based celebration in Ilocos Sur National High School.
They celebrated the day at the centennial gymnasium with a program prepared for the teachers that consisted of the clubs and some of the teachers performing, raffle draw prizes and in the afternoon, a concert was held.

It is surely a day to commemorate the efforts and hardships of our teachers. And just as expected, each section and other student organizations surprised their teachers with gifts and the cliche dramas we always see. The CAT I UNIT also expressed their gratitude by helping the school guards in keeping the school and its students in-check. Making sure that every ramble that may arise would be resolved.
This celebration truly is just one way of expressing gratitude for the hard work of our teachers in cultivating the future of Filipino learners.

Intramurals 2019

Image may contain: one or more people, people standing, crowd and outdoor
Ilocos Sur National High School started the intramurals 2019 with a parade. The colors led the way followed by the ISNHS band, CAT officers, and the stars of this very event, the athletes of every grade level, with their muse and escorts dressed up to the theme.

The parade ended at the gymnasium of the school wherein the opening program kicked off. Along with the school-based sports competition are the booths prepared and handled by the clubs. The fight between each team for every sport was facilitated by the teachers of each and every department.

During the last day of the intrams, bikers had the opportunity of riding in the Fun Bike, orchestrated still by the school. Afterwards, both the students and teachers joined the zumba led by the zumba instructor. And I must say, I am very glad to have experienced such dancing. i enjoyed and at the same time, let out sweat.

Even after a very tiring morning, the games continued. During that very day, we saw how the members of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) showcased their skills in sports through the competition. And just like any other, everyone strived to do their best  and win.

A Month to Celebrate

Science month celebration with this year’s theme, “Metabolize: Nourishing the Filipino Youth towards Nutritional Well-being”, is a month long celebration during September.

Image result for science month celebration 2019It is celebrated to give emphasis to the importance of science used in the daily lives of the people. To display the capabilities, abilities, and the knowledge of students, different activities are also held.

And in Ilocos Sur National High School, it is led by the Science and YES-O club with their club advisers. Some of these activities are Sci-Quiz, Sci-Fight, Himig Kalikasan, Battle of Bottles – where you use plastic bottles to create things, Sci-Tricks – wherein students from grade 7 to 10 are enjoined to display science tricks that fall under either earth science, chemistry, physics or biology. And the most awaited event is the Ginoo at Binibing Kalikasan, wherein those who wish to join, send their bet from each section of every level to go through screening and then comes the battle. A battle of beauty and brains, with a dash of talent.

It is one of the most awaited months of the year. Especially to Special Science Classes, who always take part in the success, from the very opening to the closing of the science month celebration, even if it’s just being a part of the crowd or with moral support.

Solidarity Making

Vigan City, as the only heritage city in the Philippines, once again celebrates.

Every year, for the month-long of September, Vigan City would celebrate the World Heritage Solidarity Cultural Festival.

This celebration aims to strengthen the pride in the city’s history and culture, promote friendship and diversity between countries and serves as a great venue for forging ties and understanding through community’s involvements in the city’s various activities that highlights love for culture, acts, and entertainment.
Its long-term goal is to preserve the 630 heritage structures that date back from the 18th and 19th centuries.

And as part of the celebration, the festival has been featuring both the Chinese and Indian Community Solidarity Day to appreciate the contributions of the Chinese and Indian community in the development of the city.

Image result for world-heritage-cities-solidarity-fest-vigan-cityZarzuala Ilocana, Historia Oral, and Cultural Quiz Bowl are only a few of the activities held in celebration of the World Heritage Solidarity Cultural Festival. And with these many activities, a one-day celebration would not be enough to showcase the heritage of the city, so the city government under then Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina, made the whole month of September as World Heritage Cities Solidarity Cultural Festival.

Spreading Happiness Is The Key

Different kinds of emotions are what we feel inside us. And in school, we encounter situations wherein we or that certain situation makes us feel those emotions, even maybe a mixture of those. But what we should always remember is that a school should be an enjoyable place for the students.
Image result for happy schools movement
The Happy Schools’ Movement was launched seeking to promote every school in the region as a better and enjoyable place to study. With a happier and more positive school culture, the learners’ spiritual, emotional, social, and intellectual conditions or aspects may be uplifted.

It may not be true or others may disagree to it but a school is not just a place for learning but also a place for fun and enjoyment as they learn to enjoy what they are doing. Thus, the happy schools’ movement.

Bridging The Gap

We are one as Filipinos, though we have different dialects or in Filipino, wikang katutubo. Especially those who are separated by kilometers of distance away or are from different parts of the Philippines.

Buwan ng Wika 2019 with the theme, “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino”, recognizes Filipino as a national language that serves as the bridge to unite the many Ethno linguistic groups in the country. That even with diversity in our dialects, we are still able to connect and understand one another through one language.
“Nais nating pagpugayan at patunayan na mahalagang bahagi ng ating pagkabansa ang 130 katutubong wika sa Filipinas.” that was according to Virgilio Almario, the chairman of Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF).
It is said that language is the first cultural heritage of humanity. The richness of our past is in the language of indigenous wisdom.
This year’s celebration of the Buwan ng Wika concentrated on the dialects that sooner or later may disappear permanently. According to Almario, every language has its own life and within those lives contain the many traditions of the Filipinos for generations. If it is not taken care of properly and soon is neglected, it will disappear. Leaving the next generations clueless about these.

No one would want our very own dialects to forever be forgotten and that is why we celebrate the Buwan ng Wika for the whole month of August, every year. To receive, pass on and to remember what our ancestors have come across, all through the years. A way of preserving our cultural heritage.

Reflect On Your Experiences For It Is Where We Learn

For the first quarter, I learned and discovered things about blogs. The kinds of blogs and what they each contain, I even get to make/publish blogs through web log. I gained knowledge on how to make one and got to apply it. I even learned about the history of the Internet and the people who are connected in the making.
Image result for reflective quotes educational

Though along the way, I encountered problems/challenges. It may not have been a big thing for the others but for me, I considered it to be a hindrance in achieving my goal thus finishing the first quarter. I struggled with the composition of the other things that were given, especially those who required what we knew about a certain event or celebration.
I did what I needed to do in order to overcome this hurdle. I read things about the upcoming celebrations/events and with that newly gained knowledge I wrote with confidence and overcame it.
Moving on, I will continue to learn new things and also continue making/publishing my very own blogs as I continue on with the other remaining quarters of the year 2019-2020.

Get Back Up and Face It

Image result for national disaster resilience month 2019
It is a common knowledge that Philippines is near the Pacific Ocean and is within the Ring of Fire, which is a major area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. And that causes the constant disasters and tremors we experience.
The National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM), observed this whole month of July with the theme “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago”, calls for action among the national agencies and local government units to implement disaster resilience campaign towards increasing public awareness on the importance of disaster risk reduction and management.
Four thematic areas will be covered namely: disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response and disaster rehabilitation and recovery. And this is according to the Department of Health’s page in the internet.
National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) was formerly called National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM). It was renamed to shift from disaster awareness to building disaster resilience.
As the theme applies, preparedness is something we really need to have in terms of any disaster that could happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. But we also need to remember that after everything that could possibly happen, even if worst does come to worst, we need to possess the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties brought by disasters. Especially when we are caught up in it or even if we are not the center of damage.
It is what we would call a weapon and it would be used against disasters. To reduce damage and to stay alive.

Eat Healthy, Live Healthy

It is a common knowledge that you become what you eat. But even so, we just can’t stop eating what we mostly love, though almost everything we eat and at the same time love is what’s not good for the body. It is also one of the reasons on why we live a not so productive life.

Nutrition month is an annual nutrition education and information campaign by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Which focuses on the importance of making informed food choices and developing physical activity habits. It is done for the whole month of July and this year, the 45th nutrition month, with the theme, “Kumain ng Wasto at Maging Aktibo, Push Natin ‘To!”, is focused on balanced healthy lifestyle and to realize the importance of healthy diets, increased physical activity and reduced sedentary behavior.
All schools are enjoined to participate through meaningful activities to create greater awareness on the importance of nutrition among Filipinos as mandated by the Presidential Decree 491. ISNHS, specifically the TLE and STEP club holds various activities and a few of them which are held annually are nutri quiz, food fest and the nutri jingle.
It is held annually so we could be reminded of proper nutrition. What food destroys us and those who nourish and enhance us by taking in a proper or moderate amount of each category of the Pinggang Pinoy which is very ideal. Along with this, exercise should also be done properly.
To enjoy life, it should always be a balance of eating healthy and doing exercise daily. Because one cannot stand alone, the lack of the other would still result to a not so productive life and could cause the immune system to weaken, allowing diseases to affect us easily.

Duck, Cover and Hold

Image result for National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2019
https://www.facebook.com/pia.agusandelnorte/videos/2378144499108529/
Natural disasters are upon us. The thought of an earthquake occurring leads to the people cowering. Without proper preparedness, chaos awaits.
Along with the other national government agencies, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) led the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on the month of June 2019, for the second quarter. Evaluators came to observe and evaluate the said drill. Wherein a drill is practiced to boost disaster awareness and preparedness. And this National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill is done for this very purpose across the country.
The senior high school students who participated during the said earthquake drill demonstrated or did the duck, cover and hold. Wherein, after you go to an open area, you need to stay down until declared clear.
A nationwide simultaneous activity which is done quarterly, within the walls of different schools nationwide must be taken seriously and not for granted. An event that some of us who are not included in the senior high have also participated last June 20,2019.
Preparing the students pertaining to disasters is a must. For it could happen anytime and anywhere. Preparedness is a must.

Letter to the President

July 13,2019

Dear President Rodrigo “Roa” Duterte,

I would like to express my admiration and thanks to you. True to your words, we all know that ever since you have seated as the 16th president of the Philippines, there have been noticeable changes and progresses going on. I applaud you for your deep concern for our fellow Filipinos abroad. The OFW’s that have been mistreated by their employers and have been brought back to our country with the help and support of your administration.

In a world wherein almost all of the people do not have a care for our environment, you took appropriate steps in saving and protecting what was left behind. Manila Bay, for example, was full of discarded things, it could have passed as a dumpster would it have continued to be that way. But because of the cleanups, it is now recovering from the ways of the people.

However, I felt disappointed when I read an article about you, Mr. President, endorsing vigilantism, stating that you would even personally reward anyone who shot and killed a drug personality. We are all one in the thought of ridding everything and everyone who does or is connected to drugs. But for civilians to take the law into their hands, won’t it be criminality if someone does kill a drug personality? That person inclined with drugs is still a human being and it would be murder to kill him.

The way you talk during a press conference or even simply talking with guests or in front of an audience should at least be proper. As the president, you represent our country, won’t it be better if you could fix that attitude of yours and/or at least remove the curse words when talking.

Even with a lot of flaws, you are one of the presidents who have taken action for the betterment of our beloved country and I really admire and am happy for that, Mr. President. With or without being told, I hope you continue protecting our motherland. I ask of you this, let not what happened to Marawi be repeated again.

Thank you Mr. President, for the time and if you ever read this please, do take time in going through it.

                                                                                                           Respectfully Yours,

                                                                                                                    Anne Valerie Alon

Resound With Pride As We Celebrate

On the 12th  day of June, in the year 1898, we were declared free from the hands of those who seized our beloved country, along with everything it holds.
After years and years of fighting for our freedom, in ways more than one. Not only have our ancestors gained back what was rightfully ours, but have also grown stronger in more aspects than one. In the years of celebrating our independence, hence, the so-called Independence Day, we have done various things or ways to celebrate it, that up to this day is still strongly ongoing. One way is to hang flags of our country, the Philippines, on houses, workplaces, around the schools and/on vehicles. There are also small celebrations within every town wherein the sound of people rejoicing, the feeling of our freedom being declared is in the air. Where it an be seen through every Filipino as we celebrate this day with pride within our hearts.
Independence Day is a continuous thing in our nation. To those who have sacrificed a lot, their lives included, for the sole purpose of gaining back our freedom even without experiencing it after, we salute you all for the heroic deeds that have been done by all of you. May we all remember the story behind this very day, hence, the history and pass it on to the next generations ‘till the very end.

Hi everyone! I'm Anne Valerie. I'm 15 years old and I love the world's biggest reader and writer community. Although the sad truth is that the people I get to know and love from the start 'till the end of the story are all FICTIONAL. I'm hooked with natural scenery and with what Japan has to offer. I also love anime. Anyway, I'm a simple girl living a simple yet amazing life with difficulties along the way. Fighting until the end.
