A lot may have fallen, but others continue to fulfill their duties and remain standing on the frontlines.

It may be just your job but choosing to risk your life to help others recover from covid-19 made you a HERO. For that, we thank you all front liners, from the bottom of our hearts.

Pandemic ka lang, I am a Filipino

Self-awareness is the ability to focus on yourself and be able to evaluate your actions, thoughts or emotions, manage them and be able to improve them accordingly, even amidst a global pandemic.

Undoubtedly, during this global pandemic, I’ve been able to assess myself and have been able to improve my thinking and all that matters. I have my emotions and thoughts in check. As a result, I’ve been more productive and focused on what to improve or retain.

During this global pandemic, not only have I noticed changes in myself but also in the ever-changing environment. The people have been more cautious, though it didn’t stop them from gathering. Establishments became more strict, online selling became kind of a trend – that is, to earn money, and nature slowly healed itself now that we’ve been quarantined. Nevertheless, humans can be quite stubborn and persistent, they continued projects that harmed the environment and its dwellers all while turning a blind eye to the publics’ plea.

A simple yet significant initiative that even a Filipino Youth can contribute in the society amidst global pandemic is to strictly follow the health protocols. Staying safe could mean safety for others too. Moreover, as Filipinos who’re known for being resourceful, we find all possible ways to earn a living especially now that most businesses have closed due to the pandemic. In addition, one can also contribute by staying home. An initiative that can be done by anyone, especially the youth who don’t necessarily need to go outside that often.

Overall, I think it’s a good thing to be aware of oneself. Daniel Chidiac, author of “Who Says You Can’t? You Do” did say that being self-aware is not the absence of mistakes, but the ability to learn and correct them. Another, as long as life goes on, there will always be something for us to do. A must initiative to be realized.

Reflection: The Final Stretch

Image result for reflection
Photoshop is a software used for image editing, graphic design and digital art. It is considered to be one of the most essential software for graphic design. The essence of photoshop is far greater than one can imagine. It gives life to pictures making it more beautiful, colorful and more memorable. It can also enhance old photos that are starting to worn out, bringing back the joy from the said picture.

Photoshop unleashes one's skill and creativity. It's useful especially if you are planning to make t-shirt designs, posters, advertisements or logos. It  offers many tools that can improve any pictures, making it more eye catching and vibrant. It is normally used by photographers, graphic designers or simply the local citizens.

The latest version of adobe photoshop named CC or creative cloud introduces new improvements. It is updated with more functions to give everyone the opportunity to discover more.

I started with little knowledge on how to operate this freaking photoshop. It was really hard for me since all downloadable templates that I wanted to use had reached their limit. I was pushed into using my last resort, without using a template, by creating my own. Of course I couldn't have done it with my classmates guide.

See, not everyone can manage or do anything and everything. There are different areas where each specific individual in a class shine brighter. Whose knowledge is better. Though not knowing isn't at all that bad. It just means that there is still space for improvement, for new knowledge, for learning.

My Dream, My Future

"A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work."

                                        - Colin Powell

Image result for my dream my futureA man can dream as high as the sky. But that dream will stay a dream if you don't act on it. Every person goes through a lot of challenges before rejoicing in the moment of success. And it is true that success is sweeter and better if you do it yourself.

As young as I am I know that  a lot of professionals are still struggling to aim for the  best they could be. And I am very sure that it won't be an easy road to take. No matter which one I take. Especially now that I'm still stuck on the thought of taking medicine, and yes, I am very much aware of how long it will take to finish. How many attempts I will be taking. And the strength of my determination to keep going.

I am currently a grade 10 student, a candidate for the year 2020 completion. Who is very much aware of how long I still need to study, how tough the upcoming challenges may be, and some other hindrances. That someday i may need to choose between those i love the most. Sacrificing one to be able to achieve another, move on with life and grow more. With my current academic state, i try to keep my grades as good as they can get so I won't have any problems with applying into STEM next school year.
Image result for my dream my future
Life is full of ups and downs. You won't always be on top. Which i have never experienced i think. So, atleast i try to keep myself in between. Even though laziness sometimes gets to me.

I dream of not only being a professional with a stable job but I also dream of building a family together with my husband. Watch our children grow old and soon, build their own families.

But life truly is full of surprises. We do not know and cannot predict what will happen next. So I kind of expect the worst thing that could happen and just live life to the fullest. With my and the people around me's safety noted.

It will take me a long time but rest assured that it will be worth it.

118th High School Day Celebration

Foundation. The most awaited and one of the busiest occasion of Ilocos Sur National High School. It is the time to commemorate the "birth" of the school.

Image result for high school day celebration isnhsThere is a great deal of hurried preparations, anticipation, and excitement. Students and teachers alike rush about to make sure that every single thing is thoroughly inspected and prepared. Most especially their practices for the field demonstration. Every grade level think about winning, especially if its going to be their last. But of course we do not forget about enjoying every second of the day, since it is only a one-day event.

March 2 of 2020 happened to be one of those days, one of the biggest event in my high school career.

After the parade, is the awaited battle. An alumni is usually invited as guest and to give an inspirational talk, on how well he had done after leaving his Alma Mater and after finishing his studies.

I, we rather, have prepared ourselves for this very day. We all wanna win and be victorious. Without leaving sportsmanship behind. No hate. Pure joy and happiness.

P.S. The photo was a few years back.

Exhibit Our Pride and Honor

Image result for kannawidan 2020 vigan teamIlocos Sur is a province rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. To show and share their treasures to the whole world, the locals conceived a festival that highlights these cultural traditions and they called it the “Kannadiwan Festival” held in the Heritage City of Vigan.

This festival at the end of January celebrates the best of Ilocos Sur culture. This province is best known for its historical sites, delicacies, customs and traditions and different festivals.

Incumbent Governor Deogracias Victor “DV” Savellano started the festival three years ago to celebrate the culture and heritage of Ilocos Sur.

Kannawidan opened with a celebration of mass at the St. Paul Cathedral and a town procession of the patron saints of all the towns of Ilocos Sur. The capitol of the province in Vigan City is usually decorated with woven baskets, makeshift bahay kubo and kalesa. Lanterns were hung from trees and posts around the plaza in front of the provincial capitol.

This year's Kannawidan though welcomed the people with a blast. Drone show with a touch of fireworks that lit up the night sky.

This is truly a very nice festival, something to visit and experience. What Ilocos Sur has to offer. Ilocos Sur and the people's true pride and honor.

Change Starts With Me

"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many riples."
                                         - Mother Teresa

Nothing is better than starting change with yourself before having what's around you change themselves. In a way that your surroundings' affected by the change happening within you.

Everyone has their own opinions on how life is already to them. But nowadays, most people would say that it haven't been kind to them and would rant about change and stuff. But then, how would they move on if they do not start it with themselves and act instead of just getting satisfied with talking.

Image result for change starts with yourselfThe humans were blessed with intellect and a set of skills, and have been placed on Earth for a purpose. A lot of people think that doing the positive change is quite impossible, for an average individual that is. However, I believe and we must believe that each and every single one of us can make a difference. Even a small stone, when set off to the waters could make a ripple which adds up to the others.

A small change when done by many and when combined becomes a way of changing the way we want to. And what i meant with small changes is like smiling and wishing someone "Good Morning", a simple thanks to show appreciation, and others. Or if you can and want to, a house for the homeless would be nice. Joining in charities and stuff.

There are a lot of ways to contribute to the change we all want. If you really want and desire it to happen, you will find a way yourself to help. Without waiting to be told upon.

There are opportunities everywhere, we just have to look properly and grab it. Together as one. Let the change in you radiate to your surroundings.

New Year, New Me! (slight)

Image result for new year new me quotesA new chapter has begun.

I hope and pray that this year be good and amazing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A New Beginning. Fresh Start. Resolutions.

These are what gets the people riled up for the newly
welcomed year. And this year has been blessed with a lot of great things to look forward to.

Image result for new year new me quotesAlthough the sad reality of it is that most of these resolutions only last for a few months, weeks, and even days. Some resolutions break.

Even with slight changes, I still think the phrase "New Year, New Me" still applies to me. I mean, it doesn't necessarily need to be a new you completely. It could be a start of a change. And a good one at that.

As a newly turned leaf that I have decided to become, the first thing I wanna do is fulfill simple resolutions. Just like saving money from my allowance and starting the day early for school and as a daily routine.

A better me for a new chapter.

Reflection

Image result for reflection quotes after a quarter"
"Learning without reflection is a waste. Reflection without learning is dangerous."
                                ~ Confucius

A few months have passed yet again. Still, I continue to learn and at the same time grow. This quarter passed by so quickly that I did not even realize that it had already ended. Though I do know that we have started and is currently doing web designing. I tend to spend a lot of time doing it especially since there were some instances wherein everything I have finished so far got deleted. It all just vanished and I don’t want to point fingers. So, I've got no choice but to do it all over again. It got me really mad and agitated. However, I will go on with the lessons I have learned. Not just only in this subject but also the learning of my everyday experience.

Christmas Has Come

A savior is born.

"The beauty of Christmas lies not just in the date, but in the feeling it gives."

Christmas, the celebration which takes the Filipinos atleast four months to celebrate.

The celebration of the birth of Christ. A time
for us to reflect, spread love, and understand the teachings and lessons of Jesus.

However, as time passes by, we continue to forget its true essence, its importance. Celebrating it has been one of the events which is most-looked forward to. Especially for children.

It is a season for merry-making and rejoicing. It is not all about giving and receiving. It is about Christ Himself.

GAD-VAWC

Gender equality plays a crucial role in the development of a person. Thus, we have not just gender issues that arise, and this Gender Awareness Development (GAD) is somehow connected to Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).

This has been happenning for a long time now. From the ancient times up to this very day. Although we have a lot of laws that protect or could back the victims up, we cannot say that equality is present and excercised.

There are groups that have advocates equality or their own beliefs in this matter. But this would never be enough, the society needs to cooperate. Every single one of us has to.

Give Attention To What Was Given To Us, Raise Awareness

Image result for environmental awareness month
We are the stewards of God's creations and yet we act contrary to that fact, to what we are supposed to be.

Image result for environmental awareness monthAs stewards, with our population that continues to grow, the world, the creations of God should've been in a healthier state. Much livelier than what it is in the present.

There are about billions of us all over the world and yet nothing good seems to come out of it, instead we continue to contribute to the bad condition of the environment, we destroy things that keep us alive and strong.

Environmental awareness is run by the United Nations,. It's aim is to raise awareness of the environment and specific environmental issues. It specifically focuses on environmental concerns ranging from pollution to global warming and sustainable food to protection of wildlife.

It can be celebrated in many ways, such as tree planting, lectures, and campaigns.

Here I am still

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."
                ~ Søren Kierkegaard

A few months have passed. Another quarter is about to end but we all know that a new one's just up ahead. This quarter was very eventful and everyone experienced their ups and downs. And someone who had experienced those, though this is just my opinion of some sort, i think that even though we didn't have straight days of discussion, we still kind of learned new things and thanks to our lesson for being easier than expected.
Image result for lifes challengesThat there is much more going on behind that blog everybody would be seeing. I learned a few more tags, how to add images, highlight, put background picture/color, and hyperlinks.
Along the way, i could not avoid having difficulties in making the activities given. There were things that would just set me off, things i couldn't figure out.
And so i made use of the information given and even asked my seatmates a few things because it was really not working for me. But then it did and i finished everything on time.
Moving on, i will continue to keep learning and absorbing the information given. And as time goes by, we move on to bigger things. Just like how it's about to end then something new begins, people come and people go. And soon we might just wake up someday realizing that we have come this far. I’ve survived life’s challenges this time. And ready to start.
As per our lesson / what we have been doing, it could just be two things: something that is to our advantage or something kept in the dark. Because i strongly believe that there are people that won't even have time to apply these. But then, we still have senior high and college up ahead. And these, everything could be of use when properly handled.

A Day To Remember

Image result for teachers day 2019 philippines theme
The Teacher’s Day is a well-known celebration worldwide and that is why we have the World Teacher’s Day which is held annually on October 5. The National Teacher’s Month started on September 5 and its culmination was on October 5, in time with the World Teacher’s Day celebration. The Division Teacher’s Day is on October 3 and on October 2 which is the school-based celebration in Ilocos Sur National High School.
They celebrated the day at the centennial gymnasium with a program prepared for the teachers that consisted of the clubs and some of the teachers performing, raffle draw prizes and in the afternoon, a concert was held.

It is surely a day to commemorate the efforts and hardships of our teachers. And just as expected, each section and other student organizations surprised their teachers with gifts and the cliche dramas we always see. The CAT I UNIT also expressed their gratitude by helping the school guards in keeping the school and its students in-check. Making sure that every ramble that may arise would be resolved.
This celebration truly is just one way of expressing gratitude for the hard work of our teachers in cultivating the future of Filipino learners.

Intramurals 2019

Image may contain: one or more people, people standing, crowd and outdoor
Ilocos Sur National High School started the intramurals 2019 with a parade. The colors led the way followed by the ISNHS band, CAT officers, and the stars of this very event, the athletes of every grade level, with their muse and escorts dressed up to the theme.

The parade ended at the gymnasium of the school wherein the opening program kicked off. Along with the school-based sports competition are the booths prepared and handled by the clubs. The fight between each team for every sport was facilitated by the teachers of each and every department.

During the last day of the intrams, bikers had the opportunity of riding in the Fun Bike, orchestrated still by the school. Afterwards, both the students and teachers joined the zumba led by the zumba instructor. And I must say, I am very glad to have experienced such dancing. i enjoyed and at the same time, let out sweat.

Even after a very tiring morning, the games continued. During that very day, we saw how the members of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) showcased their skills in sports through the competition. And just like any other, everyone strived to do their best  and win.
